CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – People leaving the military will get a little help re-adjusting to civilian life under an initiative that includes a local trucking company.
It’s called the U.S. Army Partnership for youth Success or “Pays Program”.
Army officials were at Covenant Transport in Chattanooga Tuesday morning signing an agreement that guarantees soldiers 5 job interviews and possible employment after their tour of duty.
Recruiter LTC Col. David Hensel said “I would argue that there’s no place like the U.S. Army for a young person. But this particularly provides a great way to feed the values and skills that people acquire during their military service. ”
Jason Rice is the Senior Director of Driver Recruiting for Covenant.
“Right now we have over 80 soldiers who are scheduled to depart service in the 3rd quarter of this year who we will be working along side.”
8 young men were sworn in today who will be taking part in the “PAYS” Program.
It includes a cross section of private industry, academia and public institutes.
