Suspect charged with impersonating a Federal Agent

FORT PAYNE, Alabama (WDEF) – The Fort Payne Police have charged a suspect with impersonating law enforcement after an harassment complaint.

The victim said he was stopped at a red light on Wednesday, when a man came up to his vehicle.

He said the man had a gun in his hand and was wearing a tactical vest.

The victim told police the suspect talked to him while pointing the gun at him.

he said the man claimed to be a federal agent.

But then, the man got into a vehicle and drove off.

The victim got the license plate as it drove away.

Fort Payne police worked with the FBI and Dekalb County Sheriff’s office on the investigation.

They found 50 year old Richard Brian Tra’Bael at a local campground.

Police charged him with Impersonating a Peace Officer, Possession of Forged Instruments 2nd Degree, and Aggravated Assault/Menacing.

They charged two other women with him with Possession of Forged Instruments.

Now Chief David Davis is asking anyone else who may have been a victim of Mr. Tra’Bael to contact police at 256-845-1414.
