KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF) – A UT football player has been suspended while he is being investigated in an animal abuse case.
The Knoxville Police Department is investigating Linebacker Aaron Beasley.
Another UT student had to take her kitten to an animal ER where they said it had suffered a traumatic brain injury.
Kaylee Scarbrough told police she believes one of her roommates boyfriend did it.
The boyfriend is Aaron Beasley.
He has not been charged with anything yet.
The kitten has survived after emergency treatment, but the bill to save him is $1900.
A Facebook group of cat lovers in Knoxville has raised the money and a lot more for Scarbrough.
She plans to donate the rest to an animal rights charity.
No one has been charged in this case.
A Facebook group called Knoxville Cat Lovers rallied around Scarbrough and Nugget. Scarbrough was facing a $1,900 vet bill for Nugget and the group donated more than $5,200 to help out. Scarbrough said she will donate any remaining funds to an animal hospital or cat rescue.
