Chattanooga Red Wolves Announce 28 Game League Schedule

(red wolves release) CHATTANOOGA, TN.​ (Mar. 22, 2021) – The Chattanooga Red Wolves and U​SL League One announced today its full schedule for the 2021 season, which will see each of the league’s 12 teams play 28 games for a place in the 2021 League One Playoffs in November. USL League One will feature a rolling start with some clubs kicking off on April 10th, making the league the First Men’s Professional soccer league in the United States to begin season play in 2021.Chattanooga will kick off the 2021 season on the road against 2019 Champions North Texas SC on May8 th. The Red Wolves will then take the field at CHI Memorial Stadium for their 2021 home opener on Saturday May 22nd at 7PM against Fort Lauderdale CF.“Now that the season’s here, we’re ready to get going. Knowing who we’re facing when we’re facing them allows us to start building momentum to get into the playoffs and into the final,” says Head Coach Jimmy Obleda. “Our players are hungry and motivated, they’re ready to represent the city and the club.When they have that mentality it’s just a matter of time before they all play to their full potential.”The Red Wolves are eager to get back out on CHI Memorial Stadium which will feature multiple new elements in the 2021 season including the city’s largest jumbo-tron, digital field runners, Floodlights, as well as the Executive Club and Sky Suites building.“May 22nd we’ll be playing at CHI Memorial Stadium in front of our fans,” says Red Wolves GM &President Sean McDaniel. “Playing an MLS affiliate like Ft Lauderdale CF is an incredible way to launch our home campaign. We’re very excited to get fans into the grandstands at CHI Memorial Stadium and show off all of the new elements that the stadium has to offer.”

The 28-game season will feature Chattanooga playing each League One club home and away, along with4 matches against each 2020 Champions Greenville Triumph, 2019 Champions North Texas SC and North Carolina SC. After the regular season has concluded, the top six teams in the regular season will advance to the 2021 League One Playoffs.Every game of the 2021 League One season can be viewed in the United States on ESPN+, with international viewers able to take in the action on YouTube

Rick Nyman grew up in Anniston, Alabama and attended the University of Alabama. His television career started at WJSU-TV in Anniston where he had the opportunity to cover SEC football with Alabama and Auburn. Anniston is just 20 minutes from the Talladega Speedway, so NASCAR was a big part of his sports coverage. Due to this he was able to interview Davey Allison, Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, and several other top-name NASCAR drivers. Rick's next television job was in Savannah, Georgia, where he covered basketball player Kwame Brown (now with the Washington Wizards), who later became the first ever high school player selected as the top pick in the NBA draft. He covered the PGA Tour's annual swing thru Hilton Head and also had the opportunity of covering the Atlanta Falcons Super Bowl appearance in 1999 in Miami. Rick especially enjoys all the atmosphere, tradition and drama of college football. He also likes profiling sports personalities and learning what drives them both on and off the field. If he's not covering sports, he's either watching Seinfield or David Letterman, playing golf, reading, or working out. What he enjoys about Chattanooga is the passion people have for sports.
