DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – A soccer player from Ooltewah has pleaded guilty to battery of an official during a soccer game in north Georgia.
The case comes from a large fight during a soccer game in Dalton in June of 2019.
30 year old Vincente Perez-Gonzalez was originally indicted for pushing and punching the official in the face.
The Dalton Daily Citizen reports that at the time, he told police that he had been given a red card and ejected from the game.
Perez-Gonzalez admitted to the officer that he pushed the referee down.
He told Dalton Police that he was planning on going to the bench to watch the rest of the game, but then two other referees charged him and beat him.
