CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF)- Some Cleveland City School employees received their first dose of the COVID vaccine today.
Teachers and employees that wanted to be vaccinated lined up at the bus barn in drive thru fashion to receive the shot.
Cherokee Pharmacy provided the vaccines.
The school system wanted to offer this event to free up vaccine registration spaces in the community.
Jeff Elliot, Chief Academic Officer for the school system, says, “It frees up opportunities to expedite vaccines across the community for other individuals down the road by doing it for our employee’s right now in one event like this. So, we are glad to be able to help out our community, help our staff out and help our students and our community out as well.”
Thank you to Cherokee Pharmacy for partnering with us to provide our employees with their vaccines today.
Chad Smith with Cherokee Pharmacy says, “We’ve been working on this, the COVID vaccines and distribution of this at our pharmacy, for probably two to three months, trying to work through getting everything prepared and ready to go. We’re just fortunate that we were able to get enough vaccine in to take care of our teachers and our community.”
Second doses will be given in March using a similar distribution plan.
