CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanoogans could see a jump in their sewer bills this Summer.
The sewer system doesn’t meet current federal standards.
Numerous maintenance and repair projects are in the works.
All that could add up to a nearly 10 percent increase on your bill.
That was one of the topics discussed at tonight’s City Council meeting.
City Engineer Bill Payne said “there were some decisions made in the past to operate things in the most efficient way which saved rate payers dollars unfortunately that meant that there were some certain things that did not get addressed as completely that they need to be. They were addressed partly, not completely.”
Residents could start paying more as early as July.
