HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn (WDEF) – Over the last few days, middle and west Tennessee have been slammed with a winter storm causing roads to freeze and many power outages.
The American Red Cross says they have opened up several shelters throughout those hard hit areas.
These shelters offer a warm place for those to stay, warm meals, and medical attention.
The American Red Cross says all of these shelters are volunteer run and they are in need of more volunteers who are motivated and are willing to help those in critical times of need.
“The easiest thing folks can do to help the American Red Cross is go to our website and you will see buttons on there where folks can donate financially to our disaster resource fund. That is a way we can continue to provide these services such as sheltering , feeding, providing tools for after a flood and cleanup tools,” says Sherri McKinney , Communications for the American Red Cross.
Officials suggest residents download the American Red Cross Emergency app to learn more about how to prepare for these unexpected situations.
