CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A female student files a federal lawsuit against the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
The lawsuit accuses the University of not acting properly after she reported a dorm room rape one year ago.
She says two male students raped the victim in her dorm room.
According to the suit, she reported the incident to UTC officials that same day, and provided photographs of still-fresh bruises on her neck and arms that she says were the result of being held down
The lawsuit says UTC decided her claim was “inconclusive” without a hearing.
She then made a written appeal to the Vice Chancellor.
He determined a “UTC male student had engaged in Sexual Misconduct and Sexual Assault.”
That student was dismissed from school.
We reached out to UTC for comment on this story. They released a statement that reads:
“The University is aware of the lawsuit. The University does not comment on pending litigation and therefore does not have any further comment at this time.”
