Northeast Alabama deputy dies from COVID-19

FORT PAYNE, Alabama (WDEF) – A Dekalb County, Alabama deputy has died from COVID-19.

49-year-old Mickey Bowen had served 21 years with the sheriff’s office, working both in the Detention Center and most recently as a transport deputy.

Bowen had recently been promoted to Chief Executive Assistant in the Detention Center.

The sheriff’s office says he died at U-A-B Hospital in Birmingham on Tuesday.

Visitation will be tomorrow at the Crossville Memorial Chapel from 1 to 3 central, with the funeral to follow.
