There were 94,492 new unemployment claims in Tennessee last week according to new figures released by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce. This is an increase of 55,396 from the previous week when 39,096 new claims were filed.
The Southeast Tennessee Local Workforce Development Area recorded 9,309 unemployment claims. The East Tennessee Workforce area was hardest hit with over 20 thousand new claims.
More than 6.6 million people applied for unemployment across the nation last week. There were 3,283,000 claims nationwide in the previous week.
