CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – After years of planning and construction, the National Medal of Honor Heritage Center will finally open Saturday.
The opening ceremony starts at 10 Saturday morning.
There will be 13 medal of honor recipients in attendance.
Governor Lee and many other elected officials are planning on being there as well.
The center features Medal of Honor recipients from the Civil War to Vietnam, along with their medals, related artifacts and images.
Jules Parker says, “Tomorrow is our grand opening. We have numerous… we have about 15 medal of honor recipients that have flown in from all over the country. And they are so thrilled to see us have a permanent home right here where the medal of honor began.”
The center will open for public tours beginning at 1.
