HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Hamilton County School System is making moves beefing up security.
School officials gave an update on Student Security Officer (SSO) positions at the school board meeting Thursday night.
So far, they’ve offered SSO positions to 7 people.
School officials said that the applicants have backgrounds in DEA, military, military police and as police officers and park rangers.
After having difficulties hiring SROs, the board approved money to hire up to 10 SSOs.
If all goes well, they hope to have the SSOs fully trained and in schools the second week of March.
