CLEVELAND, Tenn (WDEF) – A robbery in Cleveland has raised some major safety concerns in the area.
This comes after two men grabbed a woman by the wrist outside a popular food restaurant.
It happened on November 19th
A young woman was exiting Burrito Express after buying food when two men in a four door silver sedan pulled up to her, and exited the vehicle.
“One male grabbed her by the wrist and said we need to ask you some questions. You need to come with us. The other male reached for her other hand, and grabbed her keys. She started to struggle and started saying, ‘My Dad’s inside, my Dad’s inside,’ ” says Detective Stephen Warner with the Cleveland Police Department.
The two men then let her go and fled the area.
Detective Stephen Warner says they arrested 31 year old Justin Posey and are still looking for the second suspect.
Many are confused as to why the Police decided to charge Posey with robbery, not kidnapping.
“We can’t speculate what their intentions may have been if they had got her in the car. So the situation I have, and the facts that have been presented to me, I have a forceful taking of her personal property, being her keys and they used force to do so, which is the textbook definition of a robbery,”says Warner.
With it being the Holiday season, more people are out, and the Police department wants to remind everyone to be aware of their surroundings, especially if you are alone.
Police say that if you feel like someone is going to approach you while you are alone or approach your vehicle to scream, make noise, or even honk your horn to get the attention of others.
If you have any information as to where the second suspect may be, to please contact the Cleveland Police Department and to stay safe this holiday season.
