CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Summer is the best time for a road trip, but you need the right tech to keep you entertained while you’re stuck in the car for hours.

If you’re driving through a state with a hands free law on your road trip, Verizon’s Zachary Nelson says you need the All-In-1 phone mount.

“It’s six different mounts, so you don’t have to worry about getting a sticky adhesive on the dash, getting a sticky adhesive on your window,” Nelson said. “It can plug right into your CD tray. It can plug onto your fan mount for your air conditioning. Basically keep that display on there. Make sure you have your maps or Google Maps pulled up so you know where you’re going. You don’t get lost, and you don’t have to worry about getting that ticket for hands free.”

And if you’re a Verizon customer, Nelson recommends getting Hum, which can work as a vehicle diagnostic tool.

“You plug that in, you pull up an app on your phone, and it’s going to go over everything going on,” he said. “It’s that same tool that the mechanic is going to plug in in that OBD reader, and kind’ve let you know what’s going on with your car if that check engine light pops on.”

It also helps you with roadside assistance.

“You’re going to have towing, as well as someone if an emergency situation happens, you’ll have help as well.”

The Hum X version not only keeps you safe, but even includes Wi-Fi.

The new Samsung S10 5G is also great for travel.

“Awesome camera, super fast processor, and with Verizon adding up to 30 markets this year with 5G, blazing fast speeds,” Nelson said. “If you’re finding yourself on the road this year, if you find yourself in a different market, you find yourself in a city that’s got that 5G, you are going to be zipping on our Internet, and you’re going to be blown away at how fast it is.”

Nelson says the Samsung Buds pair well with the phone.

“Basically it’s Samsung’s answer to the Apple AirPods,” he said. “It’s going to give you hands free. It’s got the wireless charging case that basically comes along with it. If you find yourself listening to music on a run, listening to a podcast, just basically even on a phone call where you have that in, and you find its battery’s getting a little low, pop that back in the case for 15 to 30 minutes. It’s going to give yourself a few extra hours of listening, phone talk time, all that good stuff.”

And you won’t have to worry about your phone dying on the road with a mophie power station.

It keeps you charged on the go.

“You’re going to have access to a portable charging pack that gives you two full extra charges on most phones, and it’s got the built-in cord for it, so you don’t need that extra cord wrapped around in your pocket or in your purse. The device itself is barely bigger than a deck of cards.”

To find out where 5G is available while you’re traveling, Nelson says to go to verizonwireless.com.
