ROME, Georgia (WDEF) – The owner of Aztec Framing of Chattanooga went before a federal magistrate in Rome, Georgia this morning for a preliminary hearing.
Juan Perez was ordered to remain in custody since he is considered a flight risk.
Perez pleaded not guilty to the charges in court.
Federal and state agents swept-down on Aztec Framing and the holdings of Juan Perez in Catoosa county two weeks ago.
They confiscated a variety of personal items and released information that Perez was an illegal immigrant, who hired illegal immigrants to work in his home construction business at reduced wages.
He was also charged with being an illegal resident in possession of 14 firearms.
No date was set for the next court appearance.
