CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — People in the Scenic City took time to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day.
Saturday afternoon, the sixth annual St. Chatty’s Day Parade rolled into town.
Organizers say more than 300 people participated in the parade, and they estimate thousands of people watched on the sidewalk.
All the proceeds for the event benefit Kids on the Block, which is an organization that uses puppets to educate children about social concerns and differences.
“Our organization definitely relies on donations and of course fundraising events like this and a lot of community support. And we do have that. Of course with every non-profit, there is never enough to do what you need to do with so many needs in our community,” said Kelly Williams, with Kids on the Block.
The Shamrock Society in Chattanooga came up with the idea for this parade.
