EAST RIDGE, Tennessee (WDEF) – Last night’s city council meeting in East Ridge was a testament to the tenuous nature of city jobs.
The City Manager announced the firing of Police Chief J. R. Reed who was put on administrative leave last November.
“After several months of investigation, the administration for the City determined the separation with Chief Reed was deemed necessary.”
Late Friday, the Interim City manager cited an internal audit of confiscated funds, handling of open record requests and leadership issues as reasons for the termination.
Also, Thursday night, the council hired a new city manager.
Chris Dorsey is currently managing Sparta, Tennessee but was the manager of Red Bank eight years ago.
He is East Ridge’s 7th city manager in the last dozen years.
