Many people saw his emotional final sign off with his daughter, who is a dispatcher for CPD, on social media.

Chief Deputy Garrett had this to say about his sign off .

“My daughter Haley, had asked me for about a month to do that, and I hadn’t planned to do it but, it meant a lot to her, now I’m glad we did.”

“It’s impacted a lot of people, in a positive way. And I think with what’s going on in society now that’s a good thing for people to see; a different side of law enforcement.”

“I think that video brought that out.”

Family, close friends and law enforcement personnel were present for the swearing in ceremony and reception.
