UPDATE: Homicide investigation underway in Grundy County

GRUNDY COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Investigators are learning what lead to a shooting that killed a man early Sunday morning in Grundy County.

The victim is 38-year-old Bradford Meeks.

Investigators say an argument happened earlier in the night between Meeks and his girlfriend.
According to deputies, Meeks left the residence but returned a short time later and another argument started.

At some point during this argument, the girlfriend’s father, George “Junior” Byers, arrived at the house.

Deputies say an altercation between Byers and Meeks took place, leaving Meeks dead. Investigators are still trying to piece together the information.



No arrest has been made at this time.

COALMONT, Tenn. (WDEF) — An investigation is underway after a man was killed early Sunday morning in Grundy County.

Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are looking into the circumstances surrounding the apparent homicide of 38-year-old Bradford Meeks.

It happened just after midnight at a home in the 500 block of Lockhart Town Road in Coalmont.

According to investigators, the victim sustained at least one gunshot wound.

The TBI is getting assistance from the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office during this investigation.
