Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The Silverdale girls basketball team won their district tournament title on Friday night, beating Notre Dame 51-45 in overtime at the Notre Dame school. The Irish were down 39-37 with 25 seconds to play in regulation. Kate Ford lobbed a pass down low to Mackenzie Johnson who scored the basket to tie the game. Notre Dame got a stop on the other end, and they had a chance to play for the win. They had to go the length of the floor in six seconds. Kate Ford bounced through the Silverdale defense, but her lay-in at the buzzer was blocked by Becca Lamb to force overtime. Johnson scored for Notre Dame to start the OT period, but then Tessa Gibson hit a three on Silverdale’s next possession, and the Seahawks never trailed again in capturing the district championship.
