CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Former Chattanooga Police officer Benjamin Dessalines appeared before a judge Monday.
Court records show that his kidnapping charge was dismissed, but he is still charged with sexual battery.
Dessalines was ordered not to have contact with the victim.
Last week, we learned that an Internal Affairs investigation led to Dessalines’ firing.
The alleged victim filed a complaint with Chattanooga’s Special Victims Unit, which was turned over to Hamilton County to investigate since it involved an officer.
The criminal investigation is ongoing.
The department submitting a request to de-certify Dessalines to keep him from getting another law enforcement job in the state.
