CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – While several schools and offices are closing their doors Tuesday, some stores are planning to be open.

“We’ll be open, regular time, from 7:30 to 8,” Ace Hardware sales associate T.J. Allen said.

On Monday, the day before winter weather is expected to hit, the Ace Hardware on Cummings Highway made sure to have out snow and ice goods for their customers to buy.

“We’ve got the snow shovels. We’ve got ice melt, and we’ve got some stuff for pipes to keep them from freezing,” Allen said.

Not everything has stayed in the store.

Allen said the stack of bags of ice melt put out in the morning is gone.

He also added that they’ve sold several sleds and shovels.

“We’ve sold out of all the bags of the ice melt that we had. We had the 20s, the 40s, and the 10 pound bags, sold all of them and we only got a couple of the buckets left,” Allen said. “Everybody is getting ready for it, trying to prepare and everything for it.”

At the Walmart on Signal Mountain Road, some of the shelves containing milk and bread were empty.

At the Walgreens on Broad Street workers said they’ve sold a lot of milk and the pharmacy has stayed busy.

They said that they too plan to be open Tuesday.
