Ringgold, GA-(WDEF-TV) The Coahulla Creek girls basketball team beat Ringgold 47-44 on Friday night at Ringgold high school. The two clubs entered the game with a combined 16-1 record in region play. The Colts led it 18-16 at halftime. They pushed their advantage to ten points in the third quarter on a three-pointer from Mallory Poe. The Tigers rallied and trailed just 30-27 going to the fourth. Coahulla Creek enjoyed a 46-40 lead with 47-seconds to play in the game, but Ringgold got a couple of turnovers to make it interesting. A Tigers steal and lay-in made it a 46-44 game with 17-seconds left. Coahulla Creek’s Ema Turner went to the foul line with 8 seconds left and made just one foul shot to make it 47-44. Ringgold’s Rachel Akers attempted the three for the tie, but it was no good. The Colts in-bounded the ball with two seconds to play. Ringgold stole it, but the time expired before the Tigers could get off a shot, and Coahulla Creek celebrated a 47-44 victory.
