Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) UTC introduced Rusty Wright as their new head football coach on Friday afternoon, although Wright really doesn’t feel like a new hire.
He played college ball at Chattanooga, and he’s a two time Mocs assistant coach.
Wright returns to his alma mater after a two year stint at Georgia State, where he coached linebackers, special teams, and served as the Panthers recruiting coordinator. This will mark Wright’s first ever head coaching job, and he couldn’t think of a better place to be.
Said Wright:”I’m home. (cheers and applause) All right. I’m home. My caring for this place I didn’t want it to cloud what I can do for this place. I can coach football. We are going to get kids in here that want to play. We are gonna win here. The Southern Conference is going to come through Chattanooga. I can promise you that.”
