“She always had a smile on her face. She was always encouraging to other students and pushing them to be the best that they can be. And she was just a very caring person and I am honored to have met her,” said Alise Holt, the practical nursing director at TCAT.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Wednesday afternoon Goldman and her two young nieces were killed in a car crash in Niota. The little girls were five and one and a half.
Investigators say Goldman was turning left on Highway 11 when a truck hit her car. Charges are pending against the other driver.
Stewart Smith, the president at TCAT, says the nursing program is very close knit. They are supporting students as they mourn the loss of Goldman.
“Our role is to provide support for that nursing program so that they can come together and heal each other and talk with each other, share stories and share grief and move through this,” Stewart said.
Right now their thoughts are with the Goldman family.
“For all of us, not just as the TCAT community, but our community here in southeast Tennessee, that we remember this family during this hard time and it is particularly hard during the holidays,” Smith said.
Instructors say they will make sure Goldman will be remembered.
“We are going to get through it together, like we do everything and we are going to be stronger because of it. We are going to honor her memory everyday we go into that classroom,” Holt said.
