UPDATE: Assistant City Manager Kenny Custer confirms that Chief Reed has been put on paid leave pending an investigation and that Officer Adam Rose has been fired.

“It is the City’s position that we respect the entire investigation process which includes respecting Chief Reed’s interest as well.  To that end, it is the City’s policy not to comment while an investigation is pending.”

“We would caution anyone from jumping to conclusions regarding this matter and submit that in the interest of fairness and justice it is important to protect the sanctity of the investigation and allow it to proceed accordingly.”

Custer said the following regarding Officer Rose’s termination:

“The City takes seriously any claims and findings relative to its police officers that are not consistent with the sworn oath that they are required to defend which provides that they will never betray their badge, integrity, character or public trust and that they will always hold themselves and others accountable for their actions.  It is the City’s position that Mr. Rose engaged in conduct contrary to the community standards of honesty, justice and/or good moral values particularly in light that he is a sworn police officer for the City of East Ridge and charged to uphold higher standards than those generally accepted by ordinary citizens.”
