Jeff Styles speaks out about case dismissal
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – Jeff Styles has something to be thankful for.
A criminal case against him was dropped on Thursday, and he said he’s happy.
“More happy for my family who has really, really suffered more that they would ever want to admit and some of my friends, but my family really has had to take this one on the chin, because it has been, it’s just been punitive,” Styles said.
Styles was charged with aggravated assault and vandalism after a road rage type incident in June.
Investigators said that’s when he smashed the windshield of another driver with a tomahawk.
The other driver claimed he feared for his life so he shot Styles in the arm.
“That story was out there about me being this crazed guy that jumped out at a red light with a tomahawk and just tried to bust somebody’s window and what an insane idea that is,” Styles said.
The alleged incident had consequences.
In August, WGOW ended their relationship with Styles after an internal investigation.
So, Styles started a Podcast and did what he could to defend his name.
“There’s going to be people out there who are still gonna have negative things to say, nothing I can do about it. I’m just extremely thankful, I really am and I think that Lee Davis is a heck of an attorney and I have to say that I think Neal Pinkston is a very good DA. I thought that before and I think it now,” Styles said.
In a statement, a DA’s spokesperson says that after reviewing the case, they did not find enough evidence to meet the burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt.
“I just think he made the right decision. He realized that, come on there just wasn’t going to be 12 people in this area that were gonna convict me of that foolishness,” Styles said.
