CHICKAMAUGA, Georgia (WDEF) – The Walker County Water & Sewage Authority reports a third sewage spill near Chickamauga.
They say about 40,000 gallons were leaked intermittently from Sunday through Thursday.
It happened in a remote, wooded area between Glass Mill Road and Lee Clarkson Road.
Some of the spillage from previous spills did get into Crawfish Creek, which flows into West Chickamauga Creek.
Since the first spill, crews have been removing hardened grease from the sewer lines.
The last spill was blamed on one of those grease chunks breaking off and clogging a pipe.
Over the last couple of weeks, they have removed more than a ton of grease from the system.
The state is requiring WCWSA to monitor the area for a year.
