HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Hamilton County Water Wastewater Treatment Authority has cancelled their public meeting scheduled for Thursday night.
The move came after the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Agency asked for a 30-day deferral on the project on Tuesday.
A statement on their website said that “during this time, the WWTA will meet with individual homeowners near the proposed site to answer their individual concerns and provide answers to their questions.”
The WWTA is seeking a special permit for a wastewater treatment plant at 7800 Mahan Gap Road.
Many residents are upset about the plan and are concerned about how it may impact their properties and health.
WWTA officials see the plant as an option to help with immediate and future needs in the area.
