CLEVELAND, Tennessee (WDEF) – Officials with Whirpool Corporation give more information on the makeover of some of their old warehouses.
The company is knocking down three buildings at the old plant to the make way for another company to develop it.
The demolition will begin soon and take about 4-6 months to compete.
Whirlpool still owns the property and is recruiting a new developer for the site.
But they have been working with the city of Cleveland throughout the process.
We’ve been reporting for months on the city’s excitement over the possibilities.
The old, unused buildings were considered an eye soar in the Five Points area off of Inman Street.
This doesn’t mean that Whirlpool is scaling back their commitment to Cleveland.
They built a new premium cooking plant at another nearby site and are still the largest employer in the city.
The company and the city are not saying what kind of development they are seeking.
