BRYANT, Alabama (WDEF) – A man and woman have been charged with animal cruelty after deputies seized their dogs Thursday morning.
Someone tipped animal control in Jackson County, Alabama that the dogs were starving.
The home was on County road 831 in Bryant.
Officers found a living skeleton on a chain.
The Doberman Pincher weighed only 36 pounds (they average about 70 pounds).
It was barely able to move.
Animal Control also found another small dog that was malnourished.
Officers gave the owners the option of giving up the dogs, but they refused.
So they charged Helena Michelle Moses and Joseph Fisher with animal cruelty and took the dogs from them.
Fisher told the officer that he couldn’t afford to take the dogs to a veterinarian.
