CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – If you are driving east on I-24, through the ridge cut, expect delays starting Friday night.
TDOT crews will be doing road work near Germantown Road.
They will be sawing and removing damaged concrete slabs and re-pouring them with new concrete.
The work will take place beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday.
Lanes will be closed starting at the Dodds Avenue exit.
Jennifer Flynn, with TDOT, says traffic will be backed up and she suggests drivers take alternate routes.
She says this work is needed.
“The Interstate in this area is aging and as it ages and takes so much volume of traffic, it damages the concrete and damaged concrete can cause all manner of issues with vehicles,” Flynn said.
The work is expect to end before 6 a.m. on Monday.
