CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Friday was the 11th annual Parking Day in Chattanooga.
It was sponsored by the Chattanooga Design Studio.
It’s an international event, where metered parking spaces are reclaimed by residents to serve as mini parks.
The mission of Parking Day is to stress the need for open spaces in cities around the world.
Several organizations participated in the event.
Some even offered educational activities, reading rooms, and free food and drink samples.
“It builds community, and we decided to put it on Patton Parkway this year because we would really like to emphasize that people’s space and car space can coexist when it’s designed properly, and it’s to highlight the changes that are coming later on to Patten Parkway.”
Cole says this event is a great way to meet your neighbors, and learn more about some of the great organizations in Chattanooga.
