Speaker Beth Harwell campaigns in Chattanooga for Governor

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Beth Harwell is one of six Republicans running to replace Governor Haslam.

She brought her campaign to Chattanooga today.

The House Speaker spoke to local Republicans at the Pachyderm Club.

A big issue this campaign has been controlling opioids.

Speaker Harwell talked about what Republicans have done about drugs in Tennessee.

“So we’ve taken some first good steps. We’re adding additional TBI agents to be located in both East Tennessee and West Tennessee to keep illegal drugs from coming in over our boarders and we’ve increased the penalty for fentanyl which is a deadly illegal substitute for opioids.”

Harwell faces Diane Black, Randy Boyd and Bill Lee among others in the August Primary.
