TRENTON, Georgia (WDEF) – Dade county authorities have been keeping an eye on that home-made dam on the “Preserve” in Rising Fawn.
And there’s good news for those who feared the rain might cause it to breach.
We told you about the dam in a recent story, and Dade county executive Ted Rumley showed us where it’s likely to fail in the near future.
Rumley tells us today that owners of the privately owned dam have managed to lower the water-level by 16 feet, so far.
The Georgia Land Trust is the non-profit group that owns the property…
Rumley says the group has decided to dismantle that 100-foot high dam in the next few weeks.
He’s says the Trust thinks leaving pond and lake the way it is..is too dangerous.
