Trenton, Georgia (WDEF) – Dade County Sheriff’s Office reports the two offenders had their first appearance with a judge about an hour ago, and were both denied bond.
Sergeant Chad D. Payne states they won’t see a judge again until superior court convenes, possibly sometime in January, unless an attorney petitions the court for a hearing sooner on their behalf.
TRENTON, Georgia (WDEF) The Sheriff’s Department in Dade County has identified the couple charged with transporting dangerous explosives overnight.
The investigation began when a Georgia State Trooper pulled them over for a seatbelt violation in Trenton around 7PM Monday.
During a search of the Ford Ranger pickup, he spotted three homemade pipe bombs.
The trooper called in GBI agents and placed 56 year old Robert York and 36 year old Teshina Bates under arrest.
Authorities evacuated the convenience store where they were pulled over as a precaution.
The investigation led them to the home of York on Pee Wee Street.
They found ten more devices at the home on Pee Wee Street.
Both York and Bates face 13 counts of possessing explosive devices.
But authorities are still investigating why they had them in the first place.
