Northwest Georgia mother and children found, suspect in custody

WALKER COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) – The Turner children and their mother Jennifer Turner have been found at a Lafayette area motel.

The mother and children appear to be unharmed, according to Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson.

The suspect in this Investigation Douglas Turner also located at the same motel has been arrested and taken to the Walker County Jail for questioning.

Additional information will be released later this morning as more details are learned.

The investigation is being worked by the Lafayette Police Department, Walker County Sheriff’s Office and the G.B.I




WALKER COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) – An Abduction Alert has been activated in northwest Georgia for two children, and their mother.

A Levis Call, Georgia’s Amber Alert System, has been issued for 3-month-old Elizabeth Faith Turner and 9-year-old Hanna Nicole Turner.

Officials believe they are travelling in a light blue 1991 Chevy Astro Van with the Georgia license plate number #RCY9381. The vehicle has an orange pinstripe and an American flag symbol on rear passenger window/lower right corner. There is a black tag on front of vehicle with Chevy emblem on it.

The children may be in the custody of 36-year-old Douglas Steven Turner and are believed to be in extreme danger. He is described as a white 5 foot 9 male, weighing 150 pounds with brown hair and eyes.

No information has been released on the relationship of Turner with the two children or their possible location at the moment. Descriptions and photos are unavailable at this time as well.
