Four people from the Northwest Georgia chapter will also be responding on Monday with an Emergency Response Vehicle.

In Georgia, at least 40 volunteers have already deployed.

They will stay out there for at least two weeks.

The group of local Georgia volunteers are being sent to set up and work shelters for temporary housing for people impacted by the storm.

“They will be sent out to the shelters that are set up either for, for staff or for the evacuees and they will service those clients. They will make sure they’ve got a safe place to stay. They will make sure, coordinate food for the clients three times a day, and we have health service workers and mental health workers all there in the shelters too to help those types of needs. So there will be a wealth of work completed just at those shelter locations,” says Carla Kelley, Disaster Program Manager for the Northwest Georgia Red Cross.

If you want to help out, but are unable to dedicate your time you can donate. Red Cross chapters say monetary donations are best at this time.
