HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – A new agreement between state and local law enforcement in Hamilton County will soon help the Silverdale workhouse.
The Hamilton County Commission unanimously approved the resolution this morning.
It allows the sheriff’s office to access the National Crime Information Center to perform background checks on all Silverdale Workhouse inmates.
Commissioner Randy Fairbanks says this agreement will help keep all inmates and personnel safe.
“The Sheriff’s Department, when they arrest somebody, can do some background checks. But there’s only certain people you can share those with, and they weren’t allowed to share those with the personnel out there. So now, they’re, this agreement allows the Sheriff’s Department to share those background checks with the personnel at the county workhouse.”
The agreement goes into effect immediately.
