CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Humane Educational Society gets approval to move to a larger and more convenient site.
Bob Citrullo, the head of the local kennel, says their old building in Highland Park is difficult and expensive to maintain.
A city planning agency unanimously approved re-zoning, that would be necessary before the Humane society can move to an 8-acre site on Randolph Circle.
“Today was all about you know . that we found a piece of property that would work for us, uh, we’re in agreement that this is the next step forward, we had to do that …we’re ..at this point we’re raising money with our donors, to pay for the properties..we’re not asking taxpayers or the county to pay for the property itself—its our job to do that…cause we need to secure the property.”
The new facility will cost an estimated 13-million dollars.
