Walmart teams with Renfro Corporation to create jobs


CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Walmart has plans to help “the sock capital” of the country recover from the 2008 recession.

The Renfro Corporation, a producer of socks, recently landed a deal with Walmart that anticipates creating approximately 442 jobs at Renfro’s manufacturing facility in Fort Payne, Alabama, as part of Walmart’s January 2013 U.S. Manufacturing Commitment to buy an additional $250 billion is U.S. products supporting American jobs over 10 years.

The Renfro Corporation is a long time producers of socks for Walmart under such brands as Fruit of the Loom, Russell, Dr. Scholl’s, Faded Glory, among others.

The plant now has 600 workers and is the largest employer in Fort Payne.
