Nashville (WDEF)- The Tennessee Board of Regents today voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Flora Tydings as the next chancellor of the Board of Regents system.
Tydings has been president of Chattanooga State Community College since July 2015. Before that, she worked for 19 years in the public Technical College System of Georgia.
Dr. Tydings will assume her new duties on February 1st, to lead the Board of Regents system in its major role in the state’s Drive to 55 initiative.
The goal is to increase the number of working-age Tennesseans with post-secondary degrees from the current 38 percent to 55 percent by 2025.
