Eastside Utility reports major water outage from water line break

OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (WDEF) – Eastside Utility customers in eastern Hamilton County are having water issues on Monday.

Overnight, a 24 inch pipe ruptured on Old Lee Highway.

Utility officials tell us this morning that 20,000 plus customers are affected.

Basically, the entire system is experiencing either a water outage, low water pressure, or muddy water.

Please conserve your water.

Officials say all their crews are working on repairs now.

Crews told us they hope to effect repairs in 4-to-5 hours, and the company is predicting a solution later in the day.

The Utility now has posted an update on their website:

EASTSIDE UTILITY HAS EXPERIENCED A WATER MAIN LEAK ON OLD LEE HWY. WE ARE WORKING ON GETTING IT REPAIRED. IF YOU ARE OUT OF WATER OR HAVE LOW PRESSURE PLEASE CONSERVE WATER UNTIL WE HAVE THE LEAK FIXED. IT WILL PROBABLY BE LATER ON THIS AFTERNOON BEFORE WATER IS RESTORED. WE WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED ON THE WEBSITE.
