CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Law enforcement officers in Chattanooga and Hamilton County are searching for an escaped inmate.

The sheriff’s office says 26-year-old Dustin Adams walked away from a court ordered evaluation at the Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute around 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Adams is currently wanted on warrants for leaving the hospital.

Before he was transferred on December 6, he was being held in the Hamilton County Jail.

He wasn’t in the custody of the sheriff’s office at the time of the escape, but Adams had previously escaped the jail back in early September.

Adams has prior charges for theft and a firearm possession violation, but no crimes involving violence.

He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a grey long sleeve shirt, and black undershirt.

If you know where Adams is, call law enforcement.
