CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga residents are helping to turn houses into homes for area veterans.
That’s why the city and U-T Chattanooga collected household items for its Veterans Supplies & Action Day.
Volunteers took in a large amount of donations, ranging from toasters and towels, to rugs.
They’re storing everything in a packed room near City Hall.
“It’s just truly overwhelming to see the way our community comes together when we make even the simplest request. Folks jump right in for our veterans, and that’s how it should be, and it’s wonderful,” says Heather Hoffman, Homeless Program Coordinator.
If you couldn’t help out today, Hoffman says you can bring by any donated items to Chattanooga City Hall.
