CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Shortly after 4pm Saturday, the Chattanooga Fire Department were called to a house fire on Dodson Avenue.
According to the Chattanooga Fire Department, five fire companies responded on the scene to find heavy fire coming from a child’s bedroom.
Fire officials say no one was in the house at the time.
Battalion Chief Carlos Hampton says that the fire was contained to the one bedroom, but the rest of the house sustained smoke and water damage.
The Chattanooga Fire Department says that the cause of the fire is under investigation and an estimate on the dollar loss is not available.
According to Chief Hampton, a mother and her six children lived at the house and are now displaced.
No injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross of Southeast Tennessee is helping the family. Chattanooga Police and Hamilton County EMS provided assistance on the scene.
