CATOOSA COUNTY, Georgia. (WDEF) – An early morning crash on Tuesday in Tunnel Hill claims the life of one and sent another person to the hospital.
It happened around 6 AM along Highway 2, also known as Catoosa Parkway.
Georgia State Patrol Sergeant Chris Harris said a SUV traveling eastbound crossed the center line, colliding into a truck that was traveling westbound.
Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles by emergency crews.
“We did find that one of the drivers involved was deceased. They (fire crews) got the equipment to extricate drivers and that was what their role was here, to stand by and they were able to extricate both drivers finally.”
The surviving victim was taken to the hospital for his injuries.
“He was transported to Hamilton Medical Center. I don’t believe his injuries are life threatening, but he was pretty banged up.”
GSP will not release the identity of either of the victims until both of their family members have been notified.
The investigation is going.
