RINGGOLD, Georgia (WDEF) Friends, family, and now a celebrity continue to mourn the loss of 18-year-old, Ringgold native, Katie Beth Carter.
Carter was killed Monday, on her way back to college at Jacksonville State.
An 18-wheeler collided with her car.
On Thursday night, a visitation and funeral service were held for Carter.
During the visitation, family members received a message and donation from a pop-star Taylor Swift.
Swift donated $5000 to the family and also wrote this message.
“Kimi, No words could express how sorry I am for your loss. I know that you will keep Katie’s memory alive. Please know how much I am thinking of you and saying a prayer for your family. All my love, Taylor.”
Family friend, Shannon Greer, said Carter had a strong faith in Christ and touched everyone she met.
“It’s that faith that drove her to love other people and the effect was obvious last night. Taylor logged onto GoFundMe and sent a note to Kimi (Carter’s sister) and gave just a very generous donation to the family…to their GoFundMe page. It was really cool to watch Kimi respond to that. Even last night at visitation you could just see it put a fresh breath of hope and encouragement inside of her.”
