Chattanooga sex offender facing new charge of rape; bond set at $1.1 million

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF) – A convicted sex offender who was once faced charges of kidnapping and attempting first degree murder is now back in jail charged with especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, and aggravated rape.

Willie James Bradley, 55,  of Chattanooga was taken into custody Saturday morning and booked into the Hamilton Count Jail on a $1.1 Million bond.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by news 12,  Chattanooga police officers were dispatched to an area in the 1200 block of Tunnel Blvd. to investigate reports of a possible rape suspect on scene.

Police quickly identified the suspect as Bradley and detained him for a police lineup. He was positively identified by the alleged victim as the rape suspect.

The alleged victim told investigators that on the night of  August 3, Bradley raped her in a vacant house in the 1100 block of Gillespie Road.



According to statements written in the arrest affidavit, The alleged victim was walking home when she felt someone grab her by her arm and push something into her back. She told officers she assumed Bradley was pushing a weapon in her back.

The woman told investigators that Bradley forced her into a vacant home and held her against her will from 11 PM to 8 AM the next day.

According to the affidavit, during that time frame, Bradley forced the woman to oral sex on him numerous times.

The woman also told police that Bradley stated,” he would stab her like the last white girl that said no.”

According to the alleged victim, Bradley also threatened to kill her if she tried to get away.

A different detective who worked another alleged rape case involving Bradley stated the case he worked was similar to this current case.

In the previous case from 2014, a different white woman told police she was forced into a vacant home by Bradley and forced to perform oral sex on him.

When Bradley was interviewed by the detective who is investigating the current allegations, Bradley told the detective he was inside a vacant house at the location where he was picked up but stated he did not rape anyone.

Bradley’s probation officers confirmed to the detective through Bradley’s GPS ankle monitor that Bradley was in the immediate area of the vacant home at the time of the rape.

Bradley has an extensive criminal record that spans more than a page long.

Bradley has previous convictions for sexual assault and assault. He has also faced numerous rape charges that have been reduced to lesser felonies.

In 1995, Bradley was arrested on a charge of attempted first degree murder but the charge was reduced to assault.

In 1999, Bradley was convicted of aggravated rape and sentenced to six years in prison.

In 2007, he plead guilty to being in violation of the sex offender registry.

In, 2009, Bradley was sentenced to four years in prison after being convicted of aggravated assault.

Bradley’s next court date is August 23.
